One 25-year-old’s Leap of Faith
At just 25 years old, Morgan has already achieved an enormous milestone—becoming the first homeowner in her family.
A single mom to a bright five-year-old daughter, Morgan works as a receptionist at a local plumbing company. Her motivation to buy a home was simple: “My daughter. Just wanting to be financially independent and set her up for generational wealth.”
Growing up, Morgan’s family moved often, between rentals and staying with relatives. Now, she’s rewriting that story. “As a child, it was a really hard home life... but now I’m here, and it ends with me.”
She first learned about Green Country Habitat through a support coordinator at CAP Tulsa. After being at her job for a year, she applied—and was surprised by the process.“The classes were really easy. They were very helpful, very informative. I feel like I actually learned! I enjoyed it, honestly. My daughter enjoyed it too because she got to have candy!”
Now, Morgan and her daughter are settling into their new home, dreaming of swing sets, garden beds, and family holidays.“Homeownership means independence, perseverance, and a sense of community. It means a lot of things to me. I’m just really glad that I could do it.”
What advice would she give to others considering the Habitat program?
“Just do it. Take the jump. Put the faith in yourself, and it’ll work out.”
Congratulation to Morgan on her huge accomplishment, and special thank you to American Bank of Oklahoma for providing her affordable mortgage.
