Cameron Walker has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Green Country Habitat for Humanity, headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma since 2015. Under his leadership, the organization has transformed from a primarily volunteer-driven model into a professional agency, significantly increasing its capacity to provide affordable housing solutions.
Before Walker's tenure, the organization built approximately 1-3 homes annually. With strategic changes implemented under his guidance, Green Country Habitat for Humanity now constructs homes more efficiently, utilizing contractors and financial partnerships to offer below-market interest rate mortgages. This creative shift has enabled the organization to build up to 90 homes this year, positioning it as one of the top home-producing Habitat affiliates in the United States.
A notable completed project during Walker's leadership is the development of the Whittier Townhomes in the Kendall-Whittier neighborhood near downtown Tulsa. This multi-housing complex focuses on building affordable housing within vibrant neighborhoods, ensuring residents have access to essential services and community resources. Walker emphasizes the importance of location in affordable housing, stating, "It does no good to go out in the middle of nowhere and build a bunch of homes and isolate families." Public Radio Tulsa
