A Teacher and Mother of Four Finds Stability Through Homeownership

Meet Habitat’s new homeowner, Brittany—a first-grade dual-language teacher at Celia Clinton Elementary and mother of four who has transitioned from life in a shelter to a home of her own.

As a teacher, Brittany is laying the groundwork to give her students a unique advantage through her school’s Spanish dual-language program. Outside the classroom, she embraces the challenges of raising her four children, ages 4, 6, 8, and 11. Balancing work and parenting is never easy, but with a safe and steady home, the load becomes lighter.

After completing Green Country Habitat for Humanity’s homebuyer program, Brittany and her children are now proud to have a place to call home. One of her favorite features is the spacious kitchen and pantry, perfect for family meals and her love of cooking and baking.

With the dream of homeownership now realized, Brittany has the peace of mind that allows her to keep focusing on what is important to her, supporting her children and her students. She encourages future applicants to stay persistent and open to learning when going through the homeownership program:

“Come ready for all the knowledge that’s going to come with it. Make sure to take notes in every class.”

Brittany’s story wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Green Country Habitat for Humanity's donors, sponsors, and volunteers. A special thank-you goes to American Bank of Oklahoma for providing an affordable mortgage that helped make this dream a reality.

Habitat believes that everyone deserves a place to call home. Apply or share our home purchasing opportunity with others:
