Blitz Build 2025 Transforms a North Tulsa Neighborhood with Four New Homes
Our annual Clark Howard’s Blitz Build didn’t just raise walls, it raised hope, stability, and pride in North Tulsa. In just a few short months, what was once a vacant lot at Independence and Delaware Place was transformed into four beautiful new homes, each one a fresh start for a deserving family.
The Blitz Build kicked off in May, when Green Country Habitat for Humanity, sponsor teams, and volunteers came together for an unforgettable day of service. In a single day, the sound of construction and teamwork filled the neighborhood as the frames of four homes were nailed in place — showing what’s possible when a community unites around a shared mission.
By September, the work was complete, and the new homeowners stood proudly on their porches for the first time. At the dedication ceremony, volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff reunited to celebrate what had been accomplished together. For the homebuyers, the moment was life-changing — an opportunity to build strength, stability, and a brighter future in a home of their own.
Blitz Build is more than an event; it’s a promise kept. A promise that together, we can transform neighborhoods, uplift families, and make the dream of affordable homeownership a reality in Tulsa.

As a program coordinator and advisor at a local university, Mav has built a career opening doors for the next generation. Now, thanks to Habitat for Humanity, a new door has opened for Mav — one that leads to their very own home.
Growing up in a low-income household, housing insecurity was a constant challenge. Mav’s college roommate and best friend — who also purchased a Habitat home — encouraged them to join the program. Inspired by their friend’s journey, Mav completed the HomeBuyer program in just four months and is now a proud homeowner too.
“This just provides a lot of stability for me,” Mav shared. “Without the affordability of this place, I was going to have to quit my master’s program. Thanks to Habitat, I can finish — and I’ll be the first in my family to earn a master’s.”
Congratulations, Mav, on this exciting new chapter — and thank you to American Bank of Oklahoma for making affordable homeownership possible!

Originally from Burma, Pau and his wife, Vung, moved to the United States 15 years ago and have spent the last seven years in Tulsa. With three young children, they were ready for more space and a home they could truly call their own. Previously living in a small apartment with maintenance issues, they were encouraged by a friend who purchased a Habitat home to apply for an affordable solution.
After their application was approved, the Pau family took classes through the Homebuyer program and we’re grateful for the accommodations made for them throughout the process.
“We're thankful that Green Country Habitat let us take the online courses,” said Pau. Vung added, “We’re also thankful for the homeowner services team. With the in-person classes, we went as a family and had our kids with us. We felt bad for the teacher, but they were patient and understanding with us.”
Now settled in their new home, the Pau family looks forward to making memories and building family traditions. For others considering a Habitat home, their advice is simple:
“Some people say they’re afraid of the unknown,” said Vung. “I want to say to them, just go ahead and the kind people in Homeowner Services will patiently explain all the details and answer your questions. Just be confident.”
Special thanks to American Bank of Oklahoma for providing the Pau family with an affordable mortgage and helping make their dream of homeownership a reality.

Welcome home, Matthew and Michele — two dedicated educators beginning a new chapter of stability and hope through Green Country Habitat’s Education Begins With Home program.
After decades of renting, the couple had nearly given up on the dream of owning a home. That changed when a Tulsa Public Schools newsletter introduced a new partnership with Green Country Habitat to help local teachers buy affordable homes. Skeptical but hopeful, Michele decided to attend a homebuyer orientation. From that first step, their lives began to change.
Now proud homeowners, Matthew and Michele say seeing the support and generosity of all the volunteers, sponsors, and construction teams reminds them of neighbors in Houston coming together after devastating hurricanes. “When you’re economically disadvantaged, that’s devastation,” Michele said. “It’s humbling that there are still so many people willing to help.”
Congratulations to the couple on achieving this milestone — and special thanks to MidFirst Bank for helping make their dream a reality.
