Confidence, Community, and a Place of Their Own
Originally from Burma, Pau and his wife, Vung, moved to the United States 15 years ago and have spent the last seven years in Tulsa. With three young children, they were ready for more space and a home they could truly call their own. Previously living in a small apartment with maintenance issues, they were encouraged by a friend who purchased a Habitat home to apply for an affordable solution.
After their application was approved, the Pau family took classes through the Homebuyer program and we’re grateful for the accommodations made for them.
“We're thankful that Green Country Habitat let us take the online courses,” said Pau. Vung added, “We’re also thankful for the homeowner services team. With those classes, we went as a family and had our kids with us. We felt bad for the teacher, but they were patient and understanding with us.”
Now settled in their new home, the Pau family looks forward to making memories and building family traditions while connecting with neighbors, some of whom are also Habitat homeowners. For others considering a Habitat home, their advice is simple:
“Some people say they’re afraid of the unknown,” said Vung. “I want to say to them, just go ahead and the kind people in Homeowner Services will patiently explain all the details and answer your questions. Just be confident.”
Special thanks to American Bank of Oklahoma for providing the Pau family with an affordable mortgage and helping make their dream of homeownership a reality.
