From Roommate to Homeowner

Originally from Puerto Rico, Estephanier has called Tulsa home for 13 years and works in HVAC. For the last two years, he’d been living with a roommate, but it wasn’t until a friend bought a Habitat home that he began thinking seriously about homeownership himself. 

That friend walked him through her experience with the program and made it sound easy. So, he took the first step and signed up for a Homebuyer Information Session. 

Once accepted into Habitat’s Homebuyer Program, Estephanier started taking classes to prepare for homeownership. He says he thought he already knew a lot about owning a home, but the classes taught him there was more to learn than he expected. 

Now moved into his new home, Estephanier’s future is full of possibility. 

“I feel very awesome,” he said. “Excited, like, I feel very happy.” 

He’s looking forward to making the house a real home for himself and his kids.
