Meet the Chamberlains
Meet the Chamberlain Family! Lynell and LaQuinta Chamberlain met when he called the wrong number.
“He was actually trying to call another girl,” says LaQuinta, “but we started talking and the rest is history.”
Lynell, who is a musician, and LaQuinta, a home health aide, have been together more than 17 years now, and they have four sons. They’ve built a good life for their family, but really feel like one thing is missing: owning a home of their own.
They first heard about Tulsa Habitat for Humanity when a relative went through the program. Then, they began seeing Tulsa Habitat homes pop up in the Kendall Whittier neighborhood. They began the application process and were thrilled to learn not only could they purchase a home through Tulsa Habitat, the program would also help them improve their financial situation and learn to manage their money better.
“It’s time for us to own a home. We’re tired of renting,” says Lynell. “Learning to budget is also really important, especially with four growing boys.”
The Chamberlains have embraced every aspect of the THFH program. They are looking forward to having a home that they can make their own and never having to deal with a landlord again.
“We are very thankful to Tulsa Habitat and our home sponsors for the change they are helping us make in our lives,” says LaQuinta.
